1961 McCulloch R-1. This was McCulloch's first racing kart, and was introduced in 1961. Original kart was yellow with black drop-in seat. This is what an original R-1 (with duals) looked like:
Offered for sale is the start of a restoration. Frame is blasted and primed. Front nerf bar slightly bent. Lots of original parts to go with it (as pictured). Three of the wheels are original mags, 1 is replacement alum.wheel. Kart is missing seat, steering wheel is not original. Rear shock mount assembly and mounting pillows appear to be sound.Gas tank needs repair at filler.
All in all, a very nice start to a resto project. I have not catalogued the parts item by item against the original parts list, so I am not prepared to itemize in excrutiating detail what is missing and what aint. What you get is what's in the pictures.
Price is $750; buyer pays for shipping/insurance.

Also have a rebuilt McCulloch MC-6. The MC-6 also dates to 1961 and is thus a perfect mate for this kart as it would have raced in A standard class that year. Original, except it has starter pulley in place of the screen. yellow paint significantly worn off (paint the engine matching yellow when you paint the kart!) I have not run the engine, but purchased it from an experienced and reliable kart restorer. Add $250 for the engine. I will not sell the engine by itself. No pix avail for the engine.
